PRIVACY IN PUBLIC SPACE
Enabling Working Outdoors

The aim of this  project is to provide privacy in public space and enabling working environment for society. Place where people can feel that they are part of the society, but at the same time they can feel privacy and do their own work.

Innovation in public life starts with people...

Project is  mainly focused on social distances, isolation and privacy. The most important element in public space is human and it is obvious that Innovation in public life starts with people. The main thing is to understand how human function with a space, and designers study how to people interact to with each other and their environment, including physical objects such as equipment and other products and how do they create privacy in public space. The 21th century is a period of changes in public spaces’ usage, it is getting important to evaluate and understand actual use of modern public spaces, why and how they are used.

"Privacy in Public Space" relates to Jan Gehl (Architect) research and it is about public spaces usage and the relationship between people and environment.  From the research study I understood that people want to create illusion of personal space even in public space and at the same time they want to avoid isolation.  Therefore, an opportunity exists to investigate and understand public space and suggest people privacy in this area.

Outdoor work place is mix of the sustainability and wellness, outside is natural integration of both. We see new trends towards flexible and open office plans with a good integration of work and social space, and this same trends are influencing outdoor spaces associated with work place. Technological development broke down division between indoors and outdoors, people can work while moving around.  All these changes make us think how to change environment and make it safe, comfortable and flexible for employees, because we need productive generation.

Value of this project is in the study of people’s behavior in public space through using a proposed methodology and exploring increasing or decreasing privacy according to customize. Analyzing this relationship will make public space meaningful and practice which could lead to further development to improve design, meaning of public spaces and planning process. This is the way of organizing place, where people can work, create privacy and at the same time feel that they are part of the society.
